A few years ago, Elaine Kennedy set out to renovate a neglected cabin, an experience that sparked a passion for carpentry and a new career path. Now enrolled in Carpentry Apprenticeship Level 2 at Coast Mountain College (CMTN), she’s building on her self-taught skills through hands-on training. Studying locally has allowed her to stay close to home while pursuing her trades program.
Graduates from one of the Coast Mountain College (CMTN) two-year Criminology programs can now take advantage of a block transfer into the third year of a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Thompson Rivers University (TRU).
From May 1 to 15, 2026, Coast Mountain College students in Environments and Society: The Golden Triangle explored the connections between resource development, environmental stewardship, and local communities with College Professor Matthew Beedle. The highlight of this field school was a multi-day trip through Northwestern British Columbia with a stop at Hyder, Alaska.
