Instructor - Introduction to Health Careers (Prince Rupert)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert, invites applications for a part-time term Professor to teach Introduction to Health Careers. The appointment will commence February 3, 2027 and end April 08, 2027. Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructor Scale (range: $5,775.84 to $9,255.50 per section).

Duties: College Professors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the following course:

HLTH 101: Introduction to Health Careers

Introduction to Health Careers aims to introduce students to careers in various health professions, to aid in the development of their academic plans. This course will be offered in partnership with SD 52 and Charles Hayes Secondary School. The schedule will be as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 1:41pm to 3:01pm- (80 min per session)

Thursday – 12:13pm to 3:01pm- (162 min per session) 

Qualifications

Qualifications:  A minimum of a Master’s of Science degree in Nursing or a related health discipline along with teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience with experiential teaching formats.

Preferred skills and abilities include:

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners of all ages.
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom.
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities, is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable and comfortable with change.
  • Preference will be given to those who have taught Intro to Health for high school students.
